Quiz #2 Wednesday

Okay, so I guess I'm doing the blog. Ms. Nakada is calling people to tell her their book numbers, Aidan and Keith's got messed up so now they are both #17. Ms. Nakada is now asking everyone who still has  "The Outsiders" books to turn them in. We are now gonna find out our grades so far in this semester, some students are now passing out folders.

11. RJ 5.1-5.4  /20
12. Letter Home #1  /20
13. RJ 6.1-6.4 /20
14. The Poverty Myth  /10
15. Binder Check #2  /15
16. RJ 7.1-7.3  /15
Total:  /245

Nothing is really happening everyone is just adding up their scores to get their grades, it's pretty quiet for the most part. The quiz tomorrow is worth 30 points, and the quiz is on "The Outsiders", we have to do I.C.E, Quick Write, and we are allowed to use the book. We are now starting the Mix & Mingle, we each get two quotes about The Fall of Saigon, and we need to do an I.C.E about one quote we heard.

Quiz #2 Wednesday

Hey guys, yay! It's the day we turn in our final drafts of The Outsiders essay how exiting! We are currently stapling our final draft, rough draft and editing paper together to turn in. i can tell that the room is tense and people are nervous. they're like "am i good?" , "is it good", "do you think i'll get an A?". Oh my gosh i feel so isolated up here, like totally separated from everyone else, people are having conversations and I'm just like oh heyy, I'm here too :p its like I'm on an abandoned island. ok enough of that. We're getting out our english notebooks i wonder what we're gonna do, guess i'll find out in a second. Ooh we're finishing our banned book week notes, we're writing in the questions. Why would we want to celebrate banned book week? Because as mericans we got to celebrate murica! without banned book week people would just wonder about books but not have done anything about it, we have banned book week so we can talk about books and why they might be banned. Who should ban books for you? Parents, teachers and some schools ban books but as Samson said "if someone tells you NOT to read a book your going to be intrigued to read it, the only person who can tell you not to read a book is yourself" What did you learn about banned books or banned book week? I learned a lot about banned books, I didn't even know there was a celebration for it, maybe its cuz I'm blonde :P.

We're now adding another page to our table of contents called The Fall of Saigon. Ms. Nakada is going to put up pictures and we are going to fill out a t-chart about something we noticed about the picture and something you wonder. People are getting up and looking at the pictures, there are 6 pictures that are all sad, they all relate to killing or getting hurt, being scared. THE BELLLL!!!

ok, bye #frozen

I'm just waiting for something exiting to happen. Ok, Ms. Nakada is going over how to properly format an essay, like 12 point font, double spaced and heading, you know stuff like that. It's peer editing time. Looks like I'm not very good with alpha smarts. Anyways the class is editing and I'm observing. Oh no the bell. Se yaa!!! Have a great day off!!!

Ms. Nakada started reading some of the banned book titles and telling os why the books are banned. Some of the banned books I want to read are Basketball Diaries, Harry Potter, and A Wrinkle in Time.

We had the rest of the period to work on our essays for The Outsiders.

HI! it's me, Therese, looks like I'm doing the blog today.
Well, Pradeep started the day out by reding the blog, ad then Ms. Nakada showed us how to put pictures on the blog - I'll be trying to do that later...
At the moment we are doing the review of The Outsiders.

Okay, question: Do any of you guys feel a little bad for Pony, I mean it's not fair to him that he's exposed to all these tragic events at this early age right?

Oh my gosh, Spoiler alert: Sandy was not pregnant with Soda's baby...

Another Question: Is this book just an essay for Pony's English teacher?
Okay Ms. Nakada just answered that... YES.

We have to think about how WE would write an opening for the movie of The Outsiders.

By the way, if you have a question about the book you can get in touch with S.E. Hinton on twitter.

Anyone excited about reading this book?

Today, we start with Eliana reading the blog, I got chosen, and we shared journals. (Ari gets to read to a new person every day...lucky) We start to take notes about chapters 9-11. SPOILER ALERT: Johnny dies, Pony gets into random cars with strangers while half of his face is bloody (totally normal scenario), and Dally dies like the other guy did a few years ago during a highway chase and made his fingers look like a gun and the cops shot about 50 bullets through and in him. Now we work on the "Poverty Myth" graphic organizer. Finally our ticket out the door is the graphic organizer completed. That's all. These pictures are from the movie.
